Mrs N Chetty’s passion for education began with a basic Educare course thereafter following through with a Diploma in Foundation phase teaching (Specialising in learning disabilities).
Nichelle’s invaluable academic knowledge and parental knowledge, being a mother of 4 herself, has and will continue to ensure that Cottonfield Pre-Primary School will better meet the dynamic change in education.
Cottonfield has created a unique academic environment that ensures a holistic approach to your young one’s learning journey.
We have been established in 2003.

At Cottonfield Pre- Primary the principal and staff value cultural diversity and have developed differentiated teaching and learning programs which enable all of our current and future young aspiring minds to feel successful and supported in an all inclusive environment.

Parents who are considering enrolling their child are invited to make an appointment. During the meeting parents can discuss their needs and concerns and are welcome to view the school.

Services
Facilities for children from 18 months to 6 years old
Enrichment programmes are offered to children who may need additional assistance with gross motor and fine motor skills, reading and mathematics.
Language and Mathematics
Emergent literacy is encouraged by encouraging conversation, reading out loud daily, phonic awareness and library corner. While in numeracy we introduce counting, estimation, concept of size, mass, measuring and money.
Scientific experiments
With the use of different apparatus we allow a sense of curiosity with different experiments such as objects that sink and float, mixing oil and water and many others.
Fine and Gross motor skill
activities such as threading beads, buttons, pegboard games, puzzles, stencilling all contribute to drawing and writing.
The importance of play in the cognitive development of a childs development has been emphasised by the use of playground equipment.
Different equipment is positioned in the play area to help the child develop coordination, muscle strength, midline crossing and balance.
Drama / Puppets
Stories are taught to kids using puppets, plays and books.
Contruction Play
Children love building houses , garages, castles, and other structures using Legos and blocks . These types of games encourage design, problem solving and building skills. In addition to exercising creativity and imagination.
Sensory Play
Sand, mud and water allows children to develop their awareness to their five senses.
Practical life skill
We encourage good behaviour with positive rewards. We guard against teaching our kids about race and encourage positive relationships with each other.
Current affairs
We believe home or current world events are important. We share world affairs with them weekly.
